A report by the Resolution Foundation think tank calls on the government to target more than one million more people over the age of 50 into work as part of its full employment drive.

The report highlights that older people have contributed to the fastest jobs growth of any age group over the last decade, with employment rates for workers aged 50-64 now at 70%.

It concludes that employment in the 50-64 age group could be raised by around 920,000 over the course of the current parliament, with 65-69 year old employment having the potential to increase by 240,000.
