The report finds that 5.8% of 138 women analysed experienced PND after
four weeks postpartum. Of these, women with persistent pain (> four
weeks postpartum) had higher incidence of PND than women whose pain
resolved by four weeks – a difference of 2.44 mean score.

It was also
higher than women who never had pain postpartum (difference of 4.07 mean
score). Ms Wei Du, who co-conducted the study, says the findings
highlight the need to address pain in order to reduce the risk of
developing PND.
