Two police officers have been seriously injured after they were struck by a Maserati sports car while walking back to their patrol car.
The male and female PCs, who are in their 30s, were hit as they made their way to the marked vehicle on the A406 near Brent Park in Neasden early on Sunday.
There was serious damage to the white Maserati, which stopped following the collision in northwest London at about 3.40am.
Scotland Yard said the driver – a man aged in his 50s – was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to provide a breath specimen.
He has been taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.
The male officer sustained serious injuries, while his female colleague had several fractures and is in a serious but stable condition.
They were taken to hospital along with a female passenger in the car, who was not seriously hurt.
The officers, who are based in Brent borough, had been at the location helping with police enquiries in connection with an unrelated matter.
