The Justice Secretary is preparing to try and halt the release of black cab rapist John Worboys following the Parole Board’s decision to release him, according to The Sunday Times.

David Gauke has come under pressure from four cabinet colleagues to take the matter to a judicial review, which is the only way the Parole Board’s decision could be overturned.

The Sunday Times reports that Mr Gauke has asked lawyers to prepare a case for a review and will trigger the legal challenge if it has a “reasonable” chance of success.
