One of three teenagers who were stabbed in south London on Thursday night has died, police have said.

Officers were called at around 9.10pm to reports of a male stabbed on Brighton Road in Croydon.

The Met Police said: “Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended. Despite their efforts, a male, believed to be aged in his late teens, died at the scene.”

Next of kin are yet to be informed. A post-mortem will be held in due course.

A second male, believed to be aged in his late teens, was found near Brighton Road suffering from stab injuries, police said.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A third male, also thought to be in his late teens, was found close to Purley Railway Station suffering from a slash wound.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.

Two other males were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. They have been taken to police stations where they remain in custody.

Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating.
